The canvas is live. Nobody owns a pixel yet.
At launch, the verified owner count was zero. That was not a weakness to hide; it was the only moment when every standard location was still open.
The honest starting line
Milliondollarinternet opened as a one-million-pixel white grid with a marked center and no verified owners. The live counter said what the database said. There was no seed logo pretending to be a customer, no fabricated recent purchase, and no banner claiming the wall was nearly gone. An empty public wall is awkward, but it is also rare: somebody can truthfully become the first person recorded on it.
The canvas contains 10,000 standard 10×10 positions. A standard square costs $10 as a one-time purchase. A buyer can add artwork, a working destination, a title, and either a country identity or anonymous status. Completed owners receive a Hall of Internet card tied to their coordinates. Those facts are enough; the project does not need an imaginary crowd.
What we are watching
The first useful signals will be concrete. Which coordinate is selected first? Does the first buyer choose a person, website, tool, AI project, or a custom category? Do people prefer a tiny iconic square or a larger shape? The activity feed and Hall should answer those questions only after verified payments create real records.
The center 100×100 remains outlined and locked until September 1. Everything around it can establish the map's first neighborhoods before that event. Corners and edges are easy to describe; the near-center border becomes the front row. None of those positions guarantees attention, but each has a different story.
A diary needs evidence
Future launch notes will include actual totals, countries, coordinates, and screenshots when the data exists. The first-buyer entry is drafted but event-gated, so it cannot appear merely because it would make the launch look busier. The same rule applies to Founding 50 and the week-one report. Publish events after events happen.
For now, day one is a timestamp for the blank wall. If you encounter this diary later, compare its empty state with the live canvas. Every difference between the two should be attributable to a completed placement, not to marketing theater.
